For this reason, the <strong>force<\/strong> and movement is generated hydraulically <strong>only in one direction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>piston is returned<\/strong> to its initial position either by <strong>its own weight<\/strong>, an <strong>external load<\/strong> (external load) or by <strong>built-in springs<\/strong>. This type of cylinder is usually designed as a <strong>plunger<\/strong> or <strong>plunger cylinder<\/strong>. In them, the <strong>effective piston area<\/strong> is formed by the <strong>cross-section of the piston rod<\/strong>, which is sealed in the rod guide.<\/p>\n<p>This <strong>eliminates<\/strong> the need for <strong>sealing<\/strong> against the <strong>cylinder barrel<\/strong>. Thus, <strong>no requirements<\/strong> are placed on its <strong>surface<\/strong> and <strong>diameter accuracy<\/strong>. Single-acting cylinders thus have a <strong>high degree of efficiency<\/strong> because there is <strong>only one<\/strong> <strong>sealing point<\/strong>. The <strong>magnitude of the compressive force<\/strong> is calculated for all designs by <strong>multiplying<\/strong> the <strong>piston rod area<\/strong> by the <strong>operating pressure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plunger cylinders<\/strong> are <strong>used<\/strong> wherever a <strong>clear direction of force<\/strong> enables safe return to the initial position. Examples of applications here are <strong>lower piston presses<\/strong>, <strong>scissor lift tables<\/strong>, <strong>lifting devices<\/strong>, etc.<br \/>The <strong>piston extends<\/strong> when the effective piston area is <strong>pressurized with the operating pressure<\/strong> via port <strong>&#8220;A&#8221;<\/strong>. These springs can be either inside the cylinder or attached to the cylinder as separate components.<\/p>\n<p>Since they can apply limited travel and forces, they are mainly used in smaller cylinders. They are often used in fixture technology as clamping cylinders or as assembly tools for repairs.<\/p>\n<p>To extend the piston rod, pressure is applied to the effective piston surface via port &#8220;A&#8221;. The return spring ensures the return movement of the piston rod. To retract the piston rod, pressure is applied to the effective ring surface via port &#8220;B&#8221;. They work differently than conventional cylinders. When the full force is not required, only <strong>part of the effective piston area<\/strong>, called the rapid traverse piston, is <strong>pressurized<\/strong>. The pressure depends on the <strong>load<\/strong> and the <strong>effective area<\/strong>. Consequently, the <strong>piston<\/strong> with the <strong>largest effective area<\/strong> moves out <strong>first<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>constant pressure<\/strong> and <strong>flow rate<\/strong>, the <strong>extension movement<\/strong> <strong>starts<\/strong> with the <strong>highest<\/strong> <strong>force<\/strong> and low speed and <strong>ends<\/strong> with the lowest force and <strong>higher speed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>required lifting capacity<\/strong> must be <strong>designed<\/strong> for the <strong>smallest<\/strong> effective <strong>piston area<\/strong>. For single-acting telescopic cylinders, the <strong>sequence of<\/strong> the <strong>retraction movement<\/strong> is <strong>reversed<\/strong> by external load.
